Nike Arts Gallery USA, an extension of the leading gallery of contemporary African art based in Nigeria, will be participating in the Hamptons Fine Art Fair, the only international art fair in the Hamptons this summer. The fair will take place from July 13 to 16, 2023, at the Southampton fairgrounds, featuring 70 select national and international galleries.
Nike Arts, founded by Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye, a renowned artist and cultural entrepreneur, will showcase works by emerging and established artists from Nigeria and other African countries. The gallery’s mission is to promote and preserve the rich and diverse artistic heritage of Africa, as well as to empower women and youth through art education and entrepreneurship.
Some of the artists that Nike Arts will present at the fair include Rom Isichei, Tola Wewe, Dudu Emmanuel, Sam Ebohon, and others. Other artists that might be included are Peju Alatise, a mixed-media sculptor and painter who explores themes of identity, feminism, and spirituality; Niyi Olagunju, a conceptual artist who uses found objects and recycled materials to create sculptures that comment on consumerism, globalization, and history; and Olu Ajayi, a painter who captures the vibrancy and vitality of African culture and nature.
The Hamptons Fine Art Fair, produced by ShowHamptons, is expected to attract thousands of art enthusiasts, collectors, and celebrities to the East End. The fair will offer a wide and deep selection of important and emerging art from various genres, periods, and styles. The fair will also feature special events, such as the opening night vernissage benefiting Guild Hall, the Bastille Day celebration with French wines and cuisine, and the fine art photography exhibition.
Nike Arts is looking forward to bringing the beauty and diversity of African art to the Hamptons Fine Art Fair and to sharing its vision and values with the art-loving community.
