I Do Not Come to You by Chance: Genevieve Nnaji’s Latest Film Based on Award Winning Book

Genevieve Nnaji, the acclaimed Nollywood actress and filmmaker, is back with a new project as an executive producer. The project is a film adaptation of the award-winning novel I Do Not Come to You by Chance by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani. The novel, published in 2009, tells the story of a young Nigerian graduate who gets involved in the world of email scams to support his family.

The film, which is directed by Ishaya Bako, features a cast of talented actors, including Blossom Chukwujekwu, Paul Nnadiekwe, Jennifer Eliogu, Sambasa Nberibe, and Beverly Osu. The film is told in both English and Igbo languages and has Femi Awojide as the director of photography.

The film adaptation of I Do Not Come to You by Chance has been selected to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2023 as part of the Centrepiece program. This program showcases 47 titles from 45 different countries that represent contemporary achievements in global cinema. The film is one of the nine African titles that will be screened at the festival.

Genevieve Nnaji is one of the most influential and successful figures in the Nigerian film industry. She has starred in over 100 films and has won several awards and accolades for her acting and directing skills.
