Cartoon Network and Max Release Trailer for Roye Okupe’s “Iyanu” Adaptation

Cartoon Network and Max have unveiled the first trailer for the highly anticipated animated series “Iyanu,” based on the popular graphic novel “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” by Nigerian creator Roye Okupe. The trailer debuted at New York Comic Con, offering fans a glimpse into the magical world of Yorubaland.

The series follows the journey of Iyanu, a teenage orphan girl who discovers her divine powers and embarks on an adventure to uncover the truth about her past and save her homeland. With a rich tapestry of Nigerian culture, music, and mythology, “Iyanu” promises to be a groundbreaking superhero tale.

The all-Nigerian voice cast includes Serah Johnson as Iyanu, Okey Jude as Biyi, and Samuel Kugbiyi as Toye. The series is set to premiere on Cartoon Network and Max in Spring 2025, and will also stream exclusively on Showmax across 44 African countries.

“Iyanu” is produced by Lion Forge Entertainment with the backing of Cartoon Network and Max. The creative team includes Roye Okupe as the executive producer, writer, and director, along with Brandon Easton as the showrunner.
