Witsprouts Announces Advisory Board to Guide the Direction of New Anthology Project

The Witsprouts Project, an organization that promotes African arts and culture, has announced the formation of an Advisory Board for its next Anthologies project. The Board consists of five prominent figures from the fields of literature, publishing, cultural management, and entrepreneurship.

The Witsprouts Anthologies project is a platform for emerging writers and storytellers to showcase their work and get recognition. The project publishes collections of original fiction works on various themes and topics, highlighting the diversity and richness of African voices and narratives.

The Advisory Board will play a crucial role in shaping the direction and quality of the next Anthologies project, titled “Love Grows Stronger in Death”. The Board will advise on the selection process, recommend potential contributors, and contribute to the overall impact of the project.

The members of the Advisory Board are:

  • Basit Jamiu – Renown Literary Curator, Journalist, and Senior Editor at Legit.ng
  • Ibrahim Babatunde Ibrahim – Editor, Widely Published Writer and Quramo Writer’s Prize Winner
  • Sada Malumfashi – Widely Published Writer, Cultural Management Specialist and Director of Open Arts Development Foundation
  • Tobi Eyinade – Book Publishing and Distribution Expert, Entrepreneur, and Co-Founder of Roving Heights Bookstore
  • Tochi Eze – Lawyer, Editor, Doctoral Researcher, and Author of This Kind of Trouble (Tiny Reparations, 2025)

Each board member brings unique perspectives, insights, and a valuable industry network that will support the project’s mission. Their involvement demonstrates a shared passion for promoting a vibrant literary and cultural landscape.

“We are honoured to have such a distinguished group of individuals on board as our advisors,” said Tope Akintayo, Program Director of The Witsprouts Project and Editor of Witsprouts Anthologies. “Their expertise, passion, and dedication to supporting emerging writers will be instrumental in guiding us towards achieving our mission of providing a platform for discovery and promoting literary talent.”

Witsprouts Anthologies is currently preparing to launch a call for submissions for its next project, inviting emerging writers to submit their original fiction works for consideration. The deadline for submissions is August 31st, 2023. The anthology is expected to be published in early 2024.
