Africa’s leading streamer, Showmax, is back with a new Nigerian reality television series, Sadau Sisters, which stars Nigerian actress Rahama Sadau and her sisters, Aisha, Fatima and Zainab.
Sadau Sisters delves into the lives of award-winning actress, Rahama; baker, restaurateur and rising star, Zainab; makeup artiste and family peacemaker, Aisha; and fashion model and last born, Fatima. As they wade through the complexities of sisterhood against a sturdy cultural backdrop, they unveil gripping facts about themselves and tackle family traumas and controversies.
Rahama Sadau, who is the star of the show, is an actress and media personality who came to limelight through Kannywood, the Hausa-language fraction of the Nigerian film industry, making her debut in 2013 in the film, Gani Ga Wane. Since then, she has starred in a number of Kannywood and mainstream English-language films and series, some of which are MTV Shuga, Chief Daddy 2, Up North, Sons of the Caliphate and, most recently, WAR: Wrath and Revenge. 2023 was a busy year for the actress, as she got involved in streaming releases like The Plan and A Lot Like Love, and cinema release, The Two Aishas.
Rahama’s latest show, Sadau Sisters, is created against the background of cultural and religious beliefs, as the debut season brings together sisters in a new home and city. Each episode will immerse viewers in the fascinating experiences of the young and ambitious Northern Nigerian women as they manage the demands of family, career, and fame.
“I am thrilled to be doing this show, and even more so with my sisters who are simply my favorite people in the world,” says Rahama, the show’s executive producer. “This show presents a unique opportunity for me to share a more personal side of my life with viewers and my fans. I am grateful to Showmax for providing a platform to tell our stories, and I can’t wait for everyone to join us on this incredible adventure.”
Sadau Sisters joins other titles—Flawsome Season 2, romantic comedy The Counsellor, and documentary on the Igbo apprenticeship system, Freemen—in the relaunch of the Showmax app on February 9.
The 13-part show will be available on Showmax from February 12, with a new episode available every Tuesday.
