Sheila Atim and Arinzé Kene to narrate Yomi Adegoke’s debut novel The List

Award-winning actors Sheila Atim and Arinzé Kene have been announced as the audiobook narrators of The List, the debut novel by journalist and author Yomi Adegoke. The List, published by 4th Estate Books, is a witty and insightful exploration of modern dating, friendship and Black womanhood through the lives of four women who make a pact to find love in a year.

Atim and Kene are both acclaimed performers who have starred in theatre, film and television. Atim won an Olivier award for her role in Girl from the North Country, in which she also appeared alongside Kene. Kene is a playwright and actor who has written and performed in shows such as Misty and One Night in Miami. They have also collaborated on projects such as Wac Arts, a north London performing arts school that supports diverse and disadvantaged young people.

The List will be released on July 20th, 2023. Adegoke said she was “thrilled” to have Atim and Kene as the narrators of her novel. “They are both phenomenal actors who I have admired for a long time, and I can’t wait for listeners to hear their voices bring my characters to life,” she said.

4th Estate Books described The List as “a hilarious and heartwarming novel that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt the pressure to find ‘the one'”. The publisher added: “With Sheila Atim and Arinzé Kene as the audiobook narrators, we are confident that The List will be one of the most anticipated and enjoyable listens of 2023.”.
