Eloghosa Osunde, a renowned author from Nigeria, has announced the release of custom merchandise to commemorate the second anniversary of their first novel, Vagabonds!.
Vagabonds!, which was published in 2022, is a narrative set in Lagos that follows a group of misfits with extraordinary abilities. The novel has received numerous recognitions, including being a New York Times’ Critics Choice, a contender for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize, and a nominee for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize.
Osunde revealed on Instagram that they had previously commissioned 20 unique artworks from artist Mercy Thokozane Minah for the creation of a diverse range of Vagabonds! merchandise. The collection includes an impressive variety of tote bags, prints, t-shirts, hoodies, postcards, and more.
The creation process spanned two exciting months, with each piece enhancing the narrative’s universe. The collaboration with @iamafreedom resulted in merchandise that allows fans to carry scenes from the book in various forms. The range includes totes, prints (on metal, canvas, paper), t-shirts, hoodies, phone cases, postcards, stickers, scarves, jigsaw puzzles, and more.
Osunde expressed their excitement about the project, which they had been planning for a while. To mark the two-year anniversary of Vagabonds!, Osunde also hosted a small Instagram giveaway, where three readers in Nigeria won free tote bags.
The merchandise is now available for pre-order. Fans who have ever wanted to carry the world of Vagabonds! with them or display it in their homes can do so.
Eloghosa Osunde is a Nigerian writer, multidisciplinary creator, and world shaper. They are a graduate of the Lambda Literary Workshop (2019), New York Film Academy (2017), and the Caine Prize Workshop (2018). They were a 2020 MacDowell Colony Fellow and the 2021 prose judge of Fugue Journal’s annual writing contest. Osunde is the author of Vagabonds!, which was published in 2022 by Riverhead Books (US), Fourth Estate(UK), and Farafina Books (NG).
