Popular Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele’s latest cinematic project, A Tribe Called Judah has become the talk of the town as it attained a milestone of being the highest grossing film in the Nigerian box office for 2023. It took the comedy drama only 12 days to achieve this feat, raking in at least 400 million in box office revenue.
FilmOne Entertainment made the announcement on Instagram congratulating Funke Akindele for securing the top spot in Nigeria and West Africa. An overwhelmed Funke Akindele expressed gratitude to the entire cast and crew and described her new record as “an ultimate cinematic triumph of 2023”.

Released across Nigeria cinemas on December 15 and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, A Tribe of Judah is produced by Funke Akindele while its directors are Funke Akindele and Adeoluwa Owu. The film boasts a star-studded cast, which includes Jidekene Achufusi, Fathia Balogun, Uzor Arukwe, Timini Egbuson, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Olumide Oworu, Gregory Ojefua and Funke Akindele herself.
A Tribe Called Judah will be out in select UK cinemas from December 29 and distributed by Independent Film Exhibition Consultancy (IFEC),
