Nollywood Actress Laide Bakare Receives Osun State Governor’s Appointment As Senior Special Adviser

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Nollywood actress and filmmaker Laide Bakare as Senior Special Adviser on Entertainment, Arts, Culture and Tourism.

The announcement was made on Thursday as the actress took to her Instagram account to celebrate her achievement with pictures of her and Governor Adeleke.

Feeling grateful for the fresh start, she wrote: “To my new boss, Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke Imole Osun. Thank you so much for the trust and opportunity to serve. I promise to deliver my best. So help me God Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State on Entertainment, Arts, Culture and Tourism. Lots of work to be done. It’s actually a new dawn for me starting my political career from here. God bless Nigeria.”

Laide Bakare, a Lagos-based indigene of Oyo State, made her acting debut in 1999 in a film titled Adeyemi, produced by Muka Ray. Her journey into the film industry was aided by her father who owned a hotel that accommodated Nollywood actors. Since her rise to stardom, she has starred in several Yoruba films, including Èbúté, Ìdàmu eléwòn and Mi’ ofoworola. She soon took interest in the music scene, launching Simline International Records Label. In 2012, she produced Jejere, a film which won the Best Costume Design category of the 2012 Best of Nollywood Awards.
